I’m a social scientist who is dedicated to reducing crime and making the criminal justice system more effective, efficient, and equitable.
Since earning my PhD in the field of Criminology and Criminal Justice, I have worked to apply rigorous research designs and analytic procedures to understand the causes of crime and improve the functioning of the criminal justice system – especially law enforcement. I have directed several federally and privately funded research and training and technical assistance projects that involved evaluating crime prevention programs, understanding effective police practices, and directly supporting law enforcement in improving their operations. As a social scientist, I apply methods and theories from various fields such as criminology, psychology, political science, and economics.
